Senate Approve Funding for Move Ahead Washington

OLYMPIA – The Senate on Tuesday passed SB 5974— Move Ahead Washington, which would allocate $17 billion over 16 years to prioritize the transportation sector of our state with robust, unprecedented investments with a clear mission to reduce our carbon footprint.

“We need to reimagine the power and possibility of our neighborhoods,” said Sen. Reuven Carlyle (D-Seattle).  “We are going to invest in parks, access to schools, slowing down traffic, pedestrians, bikes and cafe outdoor seating, all in a way that is connected to equity, social justice and the quality of life for the people who live there.”

This bill will pay for many investments unique to the 36th Legislative District which include:

Sen. Reuven Carlyle represents Washington’s 36th Legislative District (including the Northwest Seattle neighborhoods of South Lake Union, Belltown, Ballard, Queen Anne, Greenwood and Magnolia) in the State Senate. The district is home to the iconic Space Needle as well as the global headquarters of Amazon, Expedia, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, PATH and other organizations.

Reuven served in the state House of Representatives from 2009-2016 before being elected to the Senate.
